I realized the other day that it's been a long time since I showed you seven great things. I love looking for cool items to share with you, so here we go.
1. The Firefox Add-on, Personas
Julianne wandered into my office recently and flipped when she saw my browser window.
"How did you do that?" she squealed.
Like it? You can have one like it - or something just as interesting.Download and install the Firefox Personas add-on and then you'll have the option to pick from a ton of designs. The thing I like best about Personas is that you instantly see how the design will look on your browser as you click on the options.
The is just one of the many selections that Personas offers. You can find it, with a lot more add-ons here.
2. Shorts/Burmudas from Walmart
I'm a size smaller than I was last year and so I've been having to buy new clothing. But, like everyone else, I have to watch my budget. After shopping around a bit, I was pleased to find some shorts I like at Walmart. I like them longer like this. They are comfortable and very well made - and only $15. Love it.
3. Shadow of Power, by A. Paul Madriani
I love legal mysteries - John Grisham-type books. I read this one on my trip to California and when the second half of the book came around, I couldn't put it down. I was surprised by the ending, which is a bonus.
WIN PRIZES!
I rarely re-read novels, so I'm going to give away my copy of this book. I'm going to send my copy to some lucky person that wins a random-number drawing.
- If you would like a chance at winning the book, put a reply into this post. (I'll sign it for you so that you can remember that I am the nut that sent it to you.)
- Make SURE you register as you post your comment (or log in, if you have already registered) so I have your email address. I'll need it so that I can contact you to get your mailing details. If you don't provide it as you enter, I'll be forced pick another winner. (Don't worry... Your email address is SAFE with me!)
- You have until the 11th of June to enter this little blog contest of mine. (I'm going on vacation tomorrow so I'll pick the winner when I get back. I'm putting it on my calendar as I speak!
ONE MORE PRIZE TO GO ALONG WITH THE BOOK:
I'll also give the winner of the drawing one of my Golden Tickets with a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique. Since I don't give my Golden Tickets away very often, you'll have a memento to cherish. (Wink)
4.Priceline.com
If you are going on vacation and want a steal-deal on a hotel room, you need to give Priceline's bidding process a whirl. You decide what level of hotel you will be satisfied with and what area you wish to be in. Then you start bidding by giving them a low-ball price for the room. You have to agree that you'll take whatever room they find for you (and you don't know where you are going to be until the deal is sealed) and you can not get your money back, but it is the best way I have found to get a nice room at great rate. If they don't accept your low-ball price, then you start upping it a little at a time until you get a bite.
Why does this work?
Because the hotels need their rooms filled up and they are willing to take a sure deal at a discount. When we went to California, I needed to find a deal because I couldn't afford to spend a lot of money on this family-wedding event. We got a modern room - unlike anything I have ever seen before - at a chain called aLoft through the Priceline bidding process. We only paid $50 a night.
Contrast this room to the dive my brother and sister-in-law stayed in for $57 a night! (Does anyone else notice that this room has the same office chair that I do - only mine is red?)
Thanks, Priceline!
(When we went to St. George to my mom's birthday party, I used Priceline.com again and came away with rooms in the same hotel as everyone else stayed at for half the price. Color them jealous!)
Make sure you use the Name Your Price option if you try it.
5. Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer
This is absolutely my favorite thing for my lips. It feels great on my lips and gives me just a hint of color. I put it on every time I think of it.
6. Sakura Pigma Micron Pens
These are my current fav for writing in my journal. I do a lot of doodling and drawing and these pens handle very well. They are also archival quality, which is great for a journaler.
Yes, I journal. And blog. And muse. I am constantly writing something or another. I write for fun. I write because I must write. It's either write or explode into a a trillion pixels all over the planet.
7. Aprons that cover my shirt
Because I am such a messy individual, I tend to spill things on my shirt when I cook. But no worries...Grandma and Mom taught me right and so I wear an apron while experimenting with food-science projects. In fact, I wear aprons so much that I wear them out. (They do tend to get rather groady after awhile...)
I found this apron Wrapables tonight. It's a little different than I've seen before and so it's tempting me to crack open my wallet. My current one is getting kind of groady, after all...
