I stumbled on these abnormalities of the chocolate world during my recent trip to San Francisco. Since I am always scouting for new chocolate variants now that I am the "official" chocolate reviewer of this blog, I forced myself to get a bag of these chocolate-dipped red licorice sticks so that I might be thorough.
It was a sacrifice I was prepared to make for the ultimate good of society.
To any red-licorice loving individual (such as myself) that also loves chocolate (such as myself), it would appear that dipping red licorice in chocolate would result in a tasting experience so sublime as to render the individual who has the candy swirling around in her mouth into such a high state of Nirvana as to cause the neighbors to riot with demands for chocolate-dipped licorice sticks of their own.
Perhaps, this high-level of sugar-happy alteration would be possible, should the correct variety of red licorice and chocolate be wed, but the variety I have just sampled is not it.
The verdict: The red licorice is gaggingly sweet. The chocolate is waxy and unflavorful. The two items together make me want to wash out my mouth.
Phewie.
The criminal that combined these two items needs to be punished. Perhaps, two stripes with a licorice whip is in order. Or perhaps, they could be forced to taste these atrocities themselves.
I started to write that if the licorice was Twizzlers... and the chocolate was a high-quality dark chocolate from Bloomsbery... but then my mouth started to remember what an unfortunate experience it had just had and the desire to experiment with some of my most beloved forms of candy so that I might repair this unhappy situation was instantly dissolved.
Maybe there are those readers out there that would love this combination.I wish you were here right now - the remainder of the bag would be yours!

That was probably one of my most strongly worded posts ever. Feels strange to not like candy. What's up with that?
