Today, with a practiced pull of my arm, I opened the heavy, white drapes.
Today, with a seasoned flip of my wrist, I lifted the translucent blinds.
Today, as I looked out the window that stands
between inside myself and out there,
I lifted my head. I lifted my eyes. I lifted my heart and I saw...
...heavenly lights streaming from east to west as they triumphantly sang, "It's begun!"
Tonight, with an unmindful turn of my hand, I opened a heavy back door.
Tonight, with an unhurried pace of my feet, I traveled. I wandered. I walked.
Tonight, as I carried a small plastic can
between inside my house and out there,
I lifted my head. I lifted my eyes. I lifted my heart and I saw...
...heavenly lights slipping into the night as they happily sang, "That was fun!"
Someday, I will pull up the glimmering shades that are poised between right now and then.
Someday, I will open the towering door that stands between this side and that.
Someday, I will draw back the curtain that hangs between inside myself and out there.
Let me lift up my head. Let me lift up my eyes. Let me lift up my heart. Let me see...
...heavenly lights coming over the hill as He lovingly says, "Child, well done!"
Thank you for sharing. You made my evening :)
