This morning I got up, read the scriptures, and prayed. I asked for direction. I said that I would be willing to do whatever He wanted, but I needed some guidance because my to-do list is so long that the load feels heavy.
I came into my office and sat at my computer. After I checked my email, the thought came to me to look at various web statistics.
Okay… well… that wasn’t in the plan. That little chore wasn’t on my list – or in my mind. But I I had asked for help and so I went right out and looked.
As I studied the figures, I noticed a statistic that has been slipping recently. Once I had finished clicking around, I knew what I needed to do: I had to rework the front page of the website again.
I decided to make it simple, using colors that I used in the new forum and gallery. After a couple of hours of experimenting, I came up with something that I’m going to try for awhile. We’ll see how it does.
You know what? My to-do list is still long. Nothing has changed. But I’m feeling good right now. The load suddenly feels lighter. I guess I’ll take a lunch break and then, when I come back, I’ll sit and listen until I know what to do next.
Lesson learned: Don’t worry about the to-do list so much. Heavenly Father knows what I need to do. If I listen for inspiration and follow the little flits of ideas that are placed in my mind, everything will be okay.
